Q: Can you clarify what the Career Consulting Deep Dive entails?
Of course. Here’s an overview of what we might cover in the Deep Dive:
- Clarity
If a client is stuck, at a crossroads, or needs a sounding board, this is the best option. Any topic regarding job search or career management can be discussed. - Resume Writing
Upon request I will write your resume from scratch (anticipate three sessions). - Linkedin Profile
Upon request I will write your LinkedIn profile from scratch (anticipate three sessions). - Resume Review
The client provides a resume draft, five or more job postings of roles they want to pursue, and we ask this question: Does this resume clearly show you are the most qualified candidate for this role? If not, together we work on creating an effective resume. In the process, the client learns the “secret language” of job postings/position descriptions. - LinkedIn Profile Review
At executive levels, much of candidate identification happens through LinkedIn. As with the Resume Review, we evaluate the LinkedIn profile’s effectiveness against target roles. The result is a profile which provides enough information to trigger a recruiter/hiring manager overture, crafting a “recruiter magnet” Linkedin profile. - Linkedin Posting and Comments
What to post and how to comment to build a network. - Networking
Networking is part of a long-term career management strategy. It goes beyond attending an occasional conference to identifying how to build the “hidden” network relationships leveraging LinkedIn, and identifying relevant staffing and retained search firms. - Immediate Job Search Strategy
Optimizing all options in the right sequence/using right steps. - Long-Term Career Strategy
Most executives excel at executing company strategy. Most executives do not consider the strategy for their own careers until they find themselves in transition. Being in active transition can be an opportunity to answer these questions:
1) What do I value?
2) What gives me the greatest professional fulfillment?
3) Where do I need to direct my efforts so I can find the role which permits me to thrive? - Accountability
It is easier to start than to sustain momentum. If you need accountability, let’s make that happen.
Q: Why don’t you write resumes and LinkedIn profiles?
I will if demanded, and the price can be agreed upon.
However, in the process of collaborating with me, my clients learn how recruiters and hiring managers evaluate resumes and LinkedIn profiles. This is knowledge they can use throughout their careers.
Q: Why do you only offer two “packages”?
Not every client needs or can afford a package of services. While I recommend bundling together services to guarantee that I am available and to sustain momentum, my goal is to treat clients as individuals, not as revenue streams. I charge $125 for a 30-minute session (the Sprint); $225.00 for the one-hour Deep Dive. Packages of five hour-long sessions or more are discounted at 20%.
